As a full-bearded Santa for over twenty years, Darrell was compelled to answer the number one question children asked. “Are you real?” This became the genesis of the story, “The Day Santa Got Sick.”
As a transporter of special needs children, “The Day Santa Lost His List” became Darrell’s second Christmas/detective-themed story, introducing Holly Sparkle. Holly is a awesome North Pole elf confined to a wheelchair.
As a screenwriter, Darrell received a Finalist category in the Storypros 2020 International Screenplay Competition for his work, “The Midden,” and more recently, a Quarterfinalist with “The Warden of White Otter Castle” in the Emerging Screenwriters 2021 Genre Screenplay Competition.
A true Canadian Author, Darrell lives outside Calgary, Alberta with his ‘One and Only’ Marlene. He loves to write songs and sing on his ukulele or 12-string guitar. Darrell is a singer /songwriter and member of SOCAN since 2002.

Darrell Clement has produced over 40 songs on Apple Music, Spotify and other music platforms.
Several Christmas-themed songs including the musical version of the picture book "The Day Santa Got Sick"are playing everywhere. Well, not everywhere...but on most music platforms. Ho...ho...ho.
“The Day Santa Got Sick” song, like the book, explains to toddlers the reason they might see different Santa's over the holiday season. Also released, is the song "Santa For A Day" in advance of its book release scheduled for 2027.
"Put Christ Back in Christmas" as well as "Watching the Snow" are also just released Christmas-themed songs available on most music platforms including Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, YouTube and many others. All songs are written by Darrell Clement and produced in various themes and genres. Enjoy!
